SPIDER LAB

photo album

Three weeks after emerging from the cocoon, the young Nephila moult again and begin to catch their own prey in tiny, perfect orb webs. The webs range in diameter at this phase from 5-10 cm. The spiderlings are still yellow-ochre in color, but the proportions of their bodies start to resemble much more that of the adults with long legs and slender bodies.

I repeatedly observed web invasions and some web sharing at this phase.
